Welcome to Our Neighborhood!

The Fayetteville-Manlius Neighbors and Newcomers is a social club for longtime residents as well as newcomers who want to meet new people and get involved in a variety of activities. We have daytime and nighttime activities, both weekdays and weekends. Most activities are suitable for singles; many are also suitable for couples.

Monthly luncheons are popular, as are our potluck luncheons, dining out nights, and gourmet dinner group; the weekend breakfast club provides yet another opportunity to get together. Wine tastings are a great way to socialize and learn a little about wine at the same time.

For the active, exerobics, tennis, and cross-country skiing will keep you moving as will the new hiking group. This fall a new golfing group got underway; that activity will resume next spring. Cards and games (dominos, canasta, bridge, bunco, scrabble; we just added double-deck pinocle this month) are popular activities. The gardening group hosts hands-on events (this summer we tried our hands at ikebana) and visits regional gardens of note. And there is always a time and place to talk about a good book or explore some of the regional attractions (our book club, Discover Central New York, Syracuse Cultural Events). The ladies of the group even manage to take in some "chick flicks" from time to time. This club is all about supporting its members and finding ways for people to connect through their mutual interests. Contact information for each of activity is included on the Activities page.

Over the years our club has also contributed time, money, and materials to local charities. Our volunteer group has collected and distributed toiletries and personal care items as well as towels and bedding; in the past we have donated items to the homeless, veterans organizations, and Vera House. For several years the Book Group has contributed a basket for the Library fundraiser and the Board has contributed a Christmas Tree to the Historical Society. Last year, the Club donated funds to the Manlius and Fayetteville Public Libraries as well as the F-M Food Pantry, which helps families in need from the surrounding community.

Our charity for 2012-2013 was the JD-FM Meals on Wheels program. We  held raffles at our special fall, winter and spring luncheons. We also had a very successful Indoor Yard Sale, to support this cause;
 Totaling  our donation at $3215.70.
Thank you to Joan C and her volunteers!
